The Institute of Statistical Studies and Research (ISSR) holds its Annual Conference under the leadership of Cairo University President on Statistics, Computer and Information Sciences, Demography and Operations Research. The first Conference was inauguratedin April 1966.Distinguished Egyptian, Arab and foreign scientists and specialists are cordially invited to participate in the conference to share their continuing projects and scientific experiences, and to solve problems that are related to the economic development.The Conference organizes seminars and several sessions to discuss the different fields of specialization of the Institute. Over the years, the conference has published a large number of papers after evaluating and discussing them.

The Institute publishes five proceedings covering all sessions of the Conference in mathematical statistics, applied statistics, computer and information sciences, operations research, demography and mathematics. In 1978 a proceeding on mathematics and its applications was issued. In 1983 it stopped to accept any research. The Conference holds also scientific panels to enable the participants to take part in free discussions and elaborate certain vital and important topics with the participation of some scientific ministries and different centres. They are published in a separate proceeding.
